Daily devotional: God cares for His own

'Because you trusted me, I will give you your life as a reward. I will rescue you and keep you safe. I, the Lord, have spoken!'
Jeremiah 39:18 NLTse

We see a pattern in the Bible where God takes care of those who trust Him, even when the situation around them is really bad. In this case, Ebed-melech kept Jeremiah from being murdered, so even though Jerusalem was being destroyed, the Lord spared this man. We also saw this with Rahab the prostitute, the widow who fed Elijah, Noah, Joseph and the entire family of Israel when there was famine, and in the life of David. Each of these people would have been in dire conditions or died had they not trusted God in spite of the conditions around them.

Even though situations or conditions may be bad, don't take matters into my own hands! Always trust God and live His way. He will rescue us. The end game will always be better His way than our way.

Lord, what a good reminder that You take care of those of us who trust You even when circumstances may become dire all around us. You are sovereign, and your plan is best, so we can confidently trust You and obediently follow You. Thank you for life, and thank you for this day I get to enjoy with and in You.
