Daily devotional: Pride or Praise

"You have been deceived by the fear you inspire in others and by your own pride. You live in a rock fortress and control the mountain heights. But even if you make your nest among the peaks with the eagles, I will bring you crashing down," says the Lord.
Jeremiah 49:14 NLTse

In the book of Jeremiah, the Lord condemns the nations for trusting in themselves and in their riches instead of acknowledging Him as Lord. God has to bring us down from our high horse when we don't put Him in his rightful place and realize where our wealth, talents, circumstances, and accomplishments come from. All that we have really comes from Him, and He deserves our praise.

Praise God (Psalm 67:5-7)! Acknowledge Him as our Creator and Lord of all. Worship Him and give Him the glory and thanks for our provision, capabilities, and accomplishments.

Lord, You are worthy of all praise, glory, and honor. I put myself in my rightful place and exalt You to Your rightful place. Thank you for blessing me with riches and peace, and for generously and graciously blessing what I have put my hands to. I see that this is all from You and praise You for all you have done!
