Daily devotional: Be where Jesus is working

"Master," Simon replied, "we worked hard all last night and didn't catch a thing. But if you say so, I'll let the nets down again."
Luke 5:5

Simon, James, and John were following Jesus but doing their own work in their own strength. But when they listened to what work Jesus wanted them to do and obeyed, Jesus blessed them with overwhelming success. The key is listening to Jesus and joining into the work He has for each of us. That is where we will find fulfillment and see amazing things. Otherwise, we can work as hard as we want by ourselves but will miss out--it will fall short of the awesome work that God is doing.

Listen to God. Seek out what He is doing and follow Him into the work He has for me. Then praise Him as I see His hand move.

Lord, I give You my life and all that I am. You are awesome. I don't want to put my strength to that which is just my own work. I seek to stay near to You and join into the work You are doing. Just as I have seen Your hand move powerfully before and now, I look forward to seeing You work again. I love you!
