"She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear." For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God's holy people.
Revelation 19:8 NLT (see vv.6-9)
We are God's holy people, Jesus' bride, who prepares herself for the wedding feast that will come at the end of all time. It is interesting to me that the finest of pure white linen in this verse is our good deeds. Our good deeds are pure and clothe us in special beauty. We don't do good deeds to become Christ's bride, but our good deeds make us more beautifully prepared for that day when Jesus comes again to receive us. How much of my life is characterized by good deeds?
Consider how much of my life is characterized by good deds, and look for opportunities for doing good deeds.
Dear Lord, thank you for your Word. Thank you for giving us a glimpse of what is to come at the end of all time. Thank you for revealing your majesty and the awe of who You are. I know that I do not work for my salvation, but as your bride, I get to do good deeds which are a pleasing preparation for the wedding feast to come. Please help me be characterized by good deeds. Holy Spirit, please prompt me as there are opportunities you want me to pursue. I want my life to be a sweet fragrance to You. I love you, Lord!
