Daily devotional: Glimpse into eternity

I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, "Look, God's home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All those things are gone forever."
Revelation 21:3-4 NLT

Revelation 21 offers a beautifl and compelling view of how things will be different after the end times. How awesome that God will actually dwell with us. No more cloudy mirror, with partial and incomplete understanding (1 Cor. 13:12)! How awesome that evil, death, sorrow, crying, and pain will finally be gone permanently! God will freely give us life (v.6). It is also ironic to think about streets of gold and foundation stones inlaid with precious gems. Regardless of whether that description is literal or figurative, I think we will all have an "aha" moment when we realize how the things of this world that are currently considered most precious, that people put their security in (think of the gold commodities market), will then be so abundant and commonplace that it can be enjoyed without greed or corruption or idolatry. Our security will rightly rest in the Lord Almighty and the Lamb, Jesus Christ.

Think with an eternal perspective! Look forward to the home I will one day enjoy with my Lord and Savior!

Heavenly Father, thank you for this awesome glimpse into the joys awaiting in eternity. I can't wait to experience You after the veil is removed. I can't wait to see evil permanently destroyed, along with all the sorrow and pain that goes along with it! I can't wait for the awesome worship services and the untold treats you have in store for us! I love you!
