Daily devotional: God is the Lord over all

You rejoiced at the desolation of Israel's territory. Now I will rejoice at yours! You will be wiped out, you people of Mount Seir and all who live in Edom! Then you will know that I am the Lord.
Ezekiel 35:15 NLT

From, a "lord" is a person who has authority, control, or power over others; a master, chief, or ruler; a person who exercises authority from property rights; an owner of land, houses, etc. Twenty-six times in Ezekiel, God responds and intervenes so that people will know that He is the Lord. How much trouble and heartache could be avoided if people would recognize that God, creator of all the heavens and all the earth, is Lord over all. And how much blessing and joy and life is waiting in return!

Recognize that Jesus is Lord. Enjoy the fruits of submitting to Him, and act in ways consistent with God's position as Lord over me and all else that exists.

Jesus, You are God and You are Lord over me and all else that exists. I submit in reverence to You. I worship You and come humbly to You. I recognize that You have all authority, control, and power over all people and all creation. All that exists is yours to control, so You are sovereign in carrying out all your plans. I submit to your sovereignty. Use me for your glory. O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! What is man that you are mindful of him (Ps. 8)? Thank you for loving me and reaching into your creation to have compassion and rescue me. Thank you for giving me abundant life in You! I love you!
