Daily devotional: God's great love for the lost

"So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him."
Luke 15:20 NLT (see vv.1-32)

Great is God's love and compassion for those who are lost. He desires for each of us to repent and turn back to Him. He is waiting, eagerly watching, seeking us out, and ready to forgive us. If this is God's heart and character, then it should be reflected in my life and priorities too.

Pray for the lost to repent and turn back to God. Pray that God would remove the veil from their eyes, ears, and minds. Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill me with His love and compassion, and help me actively share His gospel with others.

Lord, I love you. I'm so thankful that You are not indifferent toward those who are perishing, but I am ashamed that my love and compassion for the lost pales in comparison to Yours. Please grow my love and compassion for the lost. In Jesus name, remove the veils from them that they may receive Your gift of salvation. And please bring them to know You. Thank you, O Lord my God.
