Daily devotional: We will all be judged

I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God's throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books.
Revelation 20:12 NLT

The Book of Life determines who lives forever with God versus who meets their second death in the lake of fire after the final judgment. However, everyone--even those in the Book of Life, are judged according to what we have done. So even after trusting Jesus for salvation, it matters how we live our lives and what we accomplish. While others can see what is on the outside, God will also judge our motives.

Live my life worthy of the calling I have received (Ephesians 4:1). Be effective for that which is eternal, rather than being saved but ineffective.

Lord Jesus, thank you for saving me. And thank you for giving me real life, both now and after the final judgment. Please help me live my life effectively for your kingdom. I don't want to stand before You and be ashamed at my laziness or fears or other excuses for being ineffective with the time I have now on the earth. Use me for your glory and honor! I love you!
