Daily devotional: Amazing integrity and doctrine

He said, "I came naked from my mother's womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord!"
Job 1:21 NLT

Job is an amazing and terrifying man of integrity. He exemplified His understanding and complete devotion to the Lord after Satan took away his children, servants, his belongings, and even his health. He understood God's sovereignty and his position before God, even when God's hand of favor was removed. It is easy to trust God wholeheartedly in the good times, but in trials are where our true grits are uncovered.

By God's grace, the power of the Holy Spirit, and by dying to myself and asking Jesus Christ to live through me, may I be a man of such integrity and faith in my God that while grieving at such a loss, my next step would be to fall down and worship my God, maintaining my integrity and witness before God and man.

Heavenly Father, You have been so good to me. Your favor has long rested on me. Your hand has been so evident in my life. Though I cringe at the thought of Job's trials, please make me a man of such integrity and character that I will be a pillar of integrity and worship You even if and when circumstances are not so blessed as they have been to date. You are my God, and I humbly worship You and praise Your most holy name. May I always acknowledge You and stand strong as a witness to others in a way that will strengthen their faith and draw them to You. I love you!
