Daily devotional: Don't be distracted

"Watch out! Don't let your hearts be dulled with carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don't let that day catch you unaware..."
Luke 21:34 NLT

Jesus exhorts us to be ready for His second coming. In other translations, carousing is translated as dissipation--spinning the wheels, or working without any useful results. What a shame to waste our efforts on that which is not of value!

Remain alert, clear-headed, focused on eternal things, and not waste our time here on earth.

Lord, thank you for this great two weeks at home and with family and friends. Thank you for blessing me with a new year, a year of new beginnings. Please help me to carefully analyze what to put my strength into so that I will not be distracted and have my mind dulled by things that are not of significance. Please walk with me specially this week, and help me to do and say only what You have for me to do and say. Thank you for saving me, taking extravagant care of me, and leading me in righteousness and lavish grace. You are awsome, O Lord! I love you.
