Daily devotional: God's perspective

Jesus turned around and looked at his disciples, then reprimanded Peter. "Get away from me, Satan!" he said. "You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God's."
Mark 8:33 NLT

What seems best from a human perspective needs to be tested, as conventional wisdom can be entirely opposite of God's plan. For example, parents understandably wish safe, stable lives for their children, but God may have plans that involve mission work or jobs that don't have traditional security.

Pray for the Holy Spirit to open my eyes and fill me with His perspective, to see things from God's point of view.

Lord, You are holy and perfect. I submit all my plans and ways and thoughts to You. In every situation, please bring Your point of view to my mind. Help me not see things from the human point of view that I might otherwise fall back on. I want to be in tune with Your thoughts and Your ways, and definitely not be a hindrance to any of Your plans. Thank you for the awesome gift of being filled with the Holy Spirit. Please continue to pour yourself into and through me, that I will know and experience You deeply, and be a blessing and witness to others through the overflow of your Spirit. I love you!
