Daily devotional: Rely on God's grace

Many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, and the two men urged them to continue to rely on the grace of God.
Acts 13:43 NLT

We are declared right with God by believing in Jesus, not by following rules and regulations (v.39). The Jews and devout converts who accepted Jesus were used to strict religious requirements. It was important to stress to them, as it is important for us to hear, that it is belief in Jesus, not the quality of our religious actions or performance, that saves us.

Don't think I am earning God's favor and right-standing based on my performance. Instead, humbly remember that my salvation is all about what Jesus did for me because of God's lavish grace. Rely on His grace to accomplish what He wants through me.

Dear Lord, You are so awesome. Thank you for saving me through grace, not by my works, that I can freely enjoy salvation without fear that my performance might not add up. I love you and desire to bring You joy, but please help me to remember my place and not get puffed up if my "performance" is something that I might boast in. I love you!
