They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.
Acts 2:45 NLT
This would be a great verse for an unpopular sermon. It is a piercing challenge personally and likely unpopular for many American Christians. With 10% of Americans unemployed, and a much larger global population dying and suffering due to poverty, it is hard to justify living in relative extravagance and ignoring those around us. Maybe God isn't laying this challenge on everyone's heart, or maybe we are just not paying attention to the Holy Spirit's prompting. God isn't calling all of us to sell everything and be in poverty ourselves, but we should carefully choose giving versus saving and spending.
Think carefully about personal budget, spending, saving, and giving. Listen closely for the Holy Spirit's prompting to give.
Lord, please do Your will on this house offer we made. I am growing more excited and pray that we would find special favor with the seller's representatives to give us a favorable contract if You want us to buy this house. Please close the door and remove the decision from our hands if You are not in it. Thank you, Lord! I want to fully honor You with our financial choices. I love you!
