But my mouth would encourage you; comfort from my lips would bring you relief.
Job 16:5 NIV
A key lesson from Job is that we cannot just assume troubles or trials are due to the fault of the one experiencing them. And Job tells us first-hand what someone going through tough times really wants--encouragement and comfort, not theology, root cause analysis, or blame.
May I comfort and encourage those going through tough times in a way that will bring relief rather than condemnation or calculation.
Lord, thank you for today. Thank you for bringing people into my life to comfort and encourage. Help my theology to be sound and my words tactful and careful. Holy Spirit, please fill me to overflowing! Lord Jesus, please live your life through me! I give myself fully to You. I love you!
