So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing.
1 Corinthians 9:26 NLT
Paul exhorts us not to just go with the flow or roll with the punches through life. He likens living and interacting with others as a race that we should train for with discipline and run to win (vv. 24-25). This also reminds me of advice someone passed on to teenage boys who tend to do stupid stuff without thinking. The advice was--If you don't know why you're doing something, then don't do it.
Be intentional in how I live life, interact with my family and others. Don't waste time or effort. Instead, run in such a way that the Lord will be able to say to me, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
Lord, thank you for this new day. Your works and creation are beautiful, reflecting your intelligence and handiwork. I praise You and worship You alone. Please live in me and show me Your face. Please minister to me and let the Holy Spirit overflow through me to others. Help me not to be lazy. Help me to run the race with purpose in every step. Please grow my self-control so that I don't waste time or effort. I love you!
