Daily devotional: More and stronger disciples of Jesus Christ

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:19-20 NLT

Jesus calls us to not only make new disciples or to just help existing disciples grow in their faith. We are to make new disciples and help disciples grow in their faith. It would be an impossible imperative in our own strength, but Jesus comforts, exhorts, and empowers us by making it clear that He is always with us. We need not fear, feel alone, or shrink back from the challenges He gives us! As Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20, these new and growing disciples are our proud reward and olympic medal as we stand before our Lord Jesus when He returns!

Walk in humility yet in boldness in Christ Jesus to share my faith in Him with others who do not know Him yet, and help those who do know Jesus to grow in their faith.

Lord, I want to follow You fully and especially in all that You call me to be and do. Help me walk in obedience and not listen to my sinful nature or to the thoughts from the evil one. Rather, please keep transforming me so that living in You, obeying You, and sharing You with others comes more and more naturally. I love you!
