Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.
James 1:20 NLT
I find myself getting angry--in traffic while driving, in response to my children's behavior, or in response to the actions of others. This anger does not reflect the righteousness God is calling me to.
Verse 21 says to get rid of the filth and evil in my life. I now need to humbly accept the Word God has planted in my heart, and ask God for spiritual wisdom (vv. 5-8). James 3:17 says that His wisdom is pure, peace loving, gentle at all times, willing to yield to others, full of mercy and good deeds, shows no favoritism, and is always sincere!
Lord, I want to become more and more like You, reflecting Your righteousness. I know You desire this for me and give me strength through Jesus and your indwelling Spirit that is within me. Help me to put aside anger and replace it with spiritual wisdom as described in James 3:17. May my life be more consistent, pleasing to You, and helpful to my children as a result.
