I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
Ephesians 1:17 NIV (see also vv. 18-19)
It struck me that we pray for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, but often we pray this so that we will know what to do or what decision to make. Paul prays not for that purpose but rather so that we would know our God better, the hope to which He has called us (v.18), and His incomparably great power (v.19)!
Don't sell God short on the wisdom and revelation I ask for. Let it not just be to navigate the world I live in, but to know my God and Savior deeply!
Lord, You are magnificent. You are awesome. I know I could not fathom Your great wisdom and power by which You established the universe and created such amazing things. Thank you for revealing Yourself to me, to stoop down into my muck and mire to deliver me and adopt me as Your son. Please give me Your Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that I will know You better, the hope to which You have called me, and Your incomparably great power! I love you!
