Daily devotional: Be at rest

Scripture
The Lord protects the simplehearted; when I was in great need, he saved me. Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. For you, O Lord, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living.
Psalm 116:6-9 NIV

Observation
This morning I woke up early, with my mind thinking about relationships, deadlines, and dependencies. The Lord gave me great encouragement through His Word! "I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy." (Psalm 116:1 NIV) See also Psalm 115:1, 11-18, Jude 1-2, 20, 24-25.

Application
Do not worry or let my soul continue in anxiety. Trust in the Lord--He is my help and shield! (Psalm 115:11) He has been good to me, so my soul can be at rest. (Psalm 116:7)

Prayer
Lord, You are so good. Not to me, O Lord, not to me but to Your name be the glory, because of Your love and faithfulness! (Psalm 115:1). I extol You, O Lord, both now and forevermore. Praise be to You, O Lord! (Psalm 115:18) I love You, O Lord, for You heard my voice; You heard my cry for mercy! (Psalm 116:1). You are gracious and righteous; You, my God, are full of compassion! (Psalm 116:5). Thank you for already giving my soul rest, and please keep me there in the reality of Your grace, righteousness, and compassion. Please protect me and provide for all the deadlines and issues and dependencies to work out. I trust in You and look to You for my salvation! You are my help and shield!
