But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5 NIV
Reading through the entire chapter of Isaiah 53, I am amazed to think that this chapter was written before Jesus' birth, and yet Jesus fulfilled this both in his ministry while he was on the earth and through his death and resurrection in ways that were beyond someone's ability to manipulate fulfillment. Although I wish there was another way to atone for my sins than for Jesus to have had to suffer, I am so grateful that Jesus was obedient even to the point of death to atone for my sins, and that God raised Jesus to life and gives us newness of life through Jesus.
Be thankful and be changed. Don't continue in the futility of living life my own way, but live wholly devoted to God through Jesus.
Thank you Lord for this beautiful day, for the time with family and friends, and for teaching me and growing me. Thank you most of all for saving me and continuing to shower me with your love, compassion, grace, and mercy. You are awesome, and I am so grateful that You stooped down to the earth, stepped into our messy humanity, all because You love us and want to be intimately in relationship with each of us. I cannot fully fathom it but can be grateful for it! I love you!
