Daily devotional: Confidence in prayer

Scripture
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
1 John 5:14-15 NIV

Observation
I get frustrated when sometimes I don't feel like God has heard my prayers or is not going to answer them. But I need to stand firm in confidence in the Scriptures which tell me that if I ask anything according to His will, He does hear me, and as a result I will have what I asked of Him.

Application
Continue seeking God's will and pray confidently, knowing that God hears me and will answer my petitions made according to His will.

Prayer
Lord, thank you for this new day. Thank you for bringing refreshing rain in the middle of the heat yesterday, and similarly for refreshing me when I need it. Thank you for John, who packed His books of the Bible with rich truths. Holy Spirit, thank you for reminding me that You do indeed hear all of my prayers that are asked according to Your will, and that You do answer them. Help me to stand firm and pray confidently, seeking Your will in all that I ask. Please show in me any way or thought or sin that is keeping me from intimately relating with You and being able to carry out Your will in my life. I love you!
