Since you trust in your deeds and riches, you too will be taken captive, and Chemosh will go into exile, together with his priests and officials.
Jeremiah 48:7 NIV
Time and time again in the Scriptures, the Lord warns us directly and shows us the consequences of trusting our own capabilities and accomplishments and riches rather than putting our trust in the Lord.
Seek God and His face, ask for His favor. Praise Him. As a result, things will go well for me, but not because of our capabilities and deeds and riches, but because of God's grace and blessing (see Psalm 67).
Lord, thank you for reminding me that I am in Your hands. Help me to not grow prideful of accomplishments that You have done through me, or earthly wealth that You have blessed upon me. Instead, keep my eyes fixed firmly on You, the Author and Perfector of my faith. May You be gracious to me, and bless me, and make Your face shine upon me, that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations (Psalm 67:1-2). I praise You, O Lord. I am reminded of a right perspective when I keep my gaze fixed on You. I love you!
