Daily devotional: Fear, acknowledge, and obey the Lord

Scripture
They do not say to themselves, ‘Let us fear the LORD our God, who gives autumn and spring rains in season, who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest.’ Your wrongdoings have kept these away; your sins have deprived you of good.
Jeremiah 5:24-25 NIV

Observation
It is proper for us to fear the Lord by obeying Him, respecting Him, and acknowledging His works and provision. When we don't, our sins deprive us of good that the Lord has in store for us.

Application
Fear the Lord by obeying Him, respecting Him, and acknowledging His works and provisions. When I do wrong, be quick to acknowledge it rather than to continue in it.

Prayer
Lord, I love you. Let me never take You for granted. Thank you for providing so richly for all my needs and beyond what I could ask or imagine. Thank you for caring for me and loving me. Thank you even for discipline that serves to grow me into a more godly man who is more deeply in tune with You. Please continue to grow me. Please give me a soft heart towards You, that I will learn quickly and not be stubborn. Thank you, Lord!
