Daily devotional: Glory and power to Jesus

To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.
Revelation 1:5b-6 NIV

To be honest, I was distracted this morning and had a hard time concentrating on reading the holy Word of God! It is amazing to me how I can get my priorities mixed up and not be as passionate about what is most important as I can be about less important things. But this did strike me how awesome it is that Jesus loves me and has freed me from my sins by His blood! And He has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve His God and Father! What an awesome privilege for mere sinful humans who don't even deserve His forgiveness, let alone the great privilege of joining his heavenly kingdom and priesthood.

Don't lose sight of what Jesus has done for me and who I am in Him!

Heavenly Father, thank you for forgiving me while I was yet a sinner, and for continuing to love me even though I don't love you back perfectly. Thank you for the awesome privilege of joining into Your Kingdom and priesthood! I love You and worship You. To You be all glory and power for ever and ever! Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul (Psalm 143:8). Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground (Psalm 143:10). Amen.
