On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
John 20:19-20 NIV
Jesus not only died sacrificially on the cross to cover the penalty for our sins, but He also rose from the dead on the third day! The testimony and changed character of each of the disciples is remarkable. They went from deserting Jesus during his trial and hiding in a locked room to being overjoyed and zealously proclaiming the Lord Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead. It is hard to imagine any more compelling support for Jesus' resurrection than to see the amazing consistency and extreme lives lived out in support of what the disciples said they saw despite severe persecution and death.
Receive Jesus' peace. Let Him live in and through me, and rejoice that He not only died for my sins but that He also was raised back to life to conquer death and Satan.
Lord Jesus, thank you for dying for my sins and paying the penalty I deserve. Heavenly Father, thank you so much for raising Jesus back to life, for giving me compelling testimony and for Christ living in and through me. May my life reflect that of Jesus in everything I do. May I be in You and You in me just as the Father is in the Son and the Son is in the Father. Thank you for the peace that passes all understanding You give that guards my heart and mind in Christ Jesus! I love you!
