Daily devotional: Source of joy, strength, peace, and rest

Scripture
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
John 4:13-14 NIV

Observation
The world's provisions and satisfactions are only temporary. Jesus lives in us and gives us the Holy Spirit and God's Word. These meet our spiritual needs forever, not temporarily.

Application
If my joy is waning or my satisfaction is low, think about which source I am looking to meet my needs. Put my attention on the Lord, who gives me joy, strength, peace, and rest.

Prayer
Lord, I love you and put my trust in You. I look to You for my joy, strength, peace, provision, and rest. Thank you for satisfying me in ways that earthly provisions or treasures cannot. Please continue to draw me to You and to the path You have laid out for me. Help me not to veer away or look to earthly sources for my joy, strength, peace, provision, and rest. Thank you for Your Word, for the Holy Spirit, and for living in me.
