Daily devotional: The splendor and majesty of the Lord God Almighty

And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian. A rainbow, resembling an emerald, encircled the throne. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God.
Revelation 4:3,5 NIV

In reading Ezekiel and Revelation this morning, I am struck by the awesome glory and majesty of the Lord God Almighty. His splendor is unfathomable. He is not a distant God, or a God we can put in a box to understand or make requests of like a genie. Rather, He is most holy, with a burning splendor that permeates all. He is the Creator of all that is and the rightful Ruler and Judge of all.

Do not be cavalier towards God. Rather, worship Him. Serve Him with fear, respect, love, and honor. Remember and reflect on how awesome is my God.

You are worthy, my Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their being (Revelation 4:11). I worship You and elevate You to Your rightful place. Help me to submit to You respectfully, with the awe and the reverence You deserve. I love you, my Lord and my God!
