Daily devotional: The Jesus I serve

I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and true. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.... On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
Revelation 19:11-13,16 NIV

The Jesus I serve is the Word of God through whom God created the earth and all that is in it. He is the Triumphant and Mighty Conquerer, the Judge of all humans, and He is Holy and Awesome. He is worthy of all my fear and respect, yet loves me deeply and laid down His life so that I could be reunited with my Holy God.

Worship the Lord Jesus Christ and give Him all the respect He deserves. Don't just think of Him as the gentle Teacher who obediently went to the cross, but realize He is Almighty and all powerful. He is above all others.

Lord Jesus, I worship You. You are so awesome, and the imagery I read about You in the prophets and Revelation are amazing. Thank you so much that in the middle of Your glory and splendor, You stooped down into humanity and got Your hands dirty, Your life dirty, and You intertwined Yourself with the depraved humanity that You created but who chose to go our own ways in spite of the God who created us and loves us. I submit to You. I am excited about all You have in store for me and for the day I will get to see You and live with You forevermore.
