Daily devotional: Judgment and eternal punishment are coming

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.... If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:12,15 NIV

We will all be judged by Jesus at the end of the world. We will be judged according to what we have done--both those who follow Christ as well as those who do not. But for those who do not follow Christ, their second death will be in the lake of fire.

Although I don't know the exact nature of this second death, I need to tell people to call on the Lord, fear Him, and love Him (Psalm 145:18-20) so that they will experience the abundant life that the Lord God has for them and so they do not have to go through eternal punishment and final separation from God. And also remember that even believers will be judged according to our deeds, so act wisely and not foolishly, living for the Lord and in obedience to His ways.

Lord, I love you. Please help me to live wisely and in obedience to Your commands. And please help me to share Your good news with all those who you have in store to receive it. Help me not be lazy or indifferent, but help me to care for and love people the way You do, to see them through Your eyes and not my own.
