Daily devotional: Model petition and praise

As for me, this mystery has been revealed to me, not because I have greater wisdom than other living men, but so that you, O king, may know the interpretation and that you may understand what went through your mind.
Daniel 2:30 NIV

When Daniel found himself in an impossible situation, he went back to his friends and urged them to plead for mercy from God. God answered their prayers. Then Daniel praised God and gave Him the glory, acknowledging God's sovereignty. And when God gave him the victory, he didn't keep the glory for himself but rather told the king that it is God who revealed the mystery and it was not due to his abilities.

Don't forget this great example. Petition God for help, and give Him all the glory when He provides the victory.

Lord God, You are awesome and worthy of all praise! You are in charge of my life and everything else. I usually don't forget to petition You, but I don't do it with the respect You deserve. And when You provide the answer, I can't believe it is hard for me to give You the credit instead of keeping the credit for myself. Lord, please help me to follow Daniel's example and give You all the glory, which You deserve always! I love you!
