Daily devotional: give generously and sacrificially

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,” says the LORD Almighty.
Malachi 3:10-11 NIV

When we are generous back to God, He is generous towards us. I have seen times in my life when we were where God wanted us to give, and I saw that just as in verse 11, our medical bills were minimal, costs for car and home repairs were minimal, and the dollars seemed to stretch. I have seen other times in my life where our giving and spending was not as honoring to God when costs of living seemed to devour all the surplus and more.

Give generously and sacrificially; don't hold back. Give God an opportunity to show His provision and open up the floodgates of heaven to pour out blessing on us.

Lord of heaven's armies, You are great and mighty. Your name is to be revered, and no one can stand before You. You are holy and perfect in every way. I come before You today and ask that You would show Stephanie and me every time that we are not in line with giving sacrificially in the way that will honor You and meet this test You have challenged us with. Help us to give, and then open our eyes so we can see how You generously pour out Your blessings on us. May we stay in the sweet spot of community with You. I love you!
