Daily devotional: Our Awesome God

As it is written: "I have made you a father of many nations." He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.
Romans 4:17 NIV

I serve an awesome, holy, and perfect Godthe God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were. My salvation is through Jesus Christ, whose work on my behalf is the power of God. Jesus' finished work has brought me from death to life and has made that which was not good, not holy, and not righteous into something beautiful for the sake of His glory.

Rejoice that I am loved and saved by such an awesome God! Continue to trust in Him and rely on His unspeakable power as I live out my faith and the mission He has given rather than look to my own strength and my own strategy for accomplishing His desires for me.

Lord, You are so awesome. I am grateful that Your grace abounds, that You have lavished such love onto me and the human race. I wish that all people could experience this love and this grace through Jesus that brings fresh, new life to our spiritual dead, dirty lives. I pray that Your power would move radically in the United States and even in Houston, Texas. May we not blindly follow our own ways and traditions but rather look to You, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, and rest in Your power. I pray that You will bring people all around us to a saving faith in You, and that Your Holy Spirit will grow each of us into newness of life, into rich community with You and each other. May Your name be magnified so that all will see Your power and the amazing change that only You can bring about in our world. I love you, Lord!
