Daily devotional: Keys to being spiritually effective and productive

Scripture
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 1:5-8 NIV

Observation
Peter challenged his audience to participate in the real life God has in store for us, to be holy and to look forward to our eternal life. Pursuing these virtues with all my effort and through God's divine power will keep me from being ineffective and unproductive in my knowledge of my Lord Jesus Christ.

Application
Pursue faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love! Know that the Lord God gives me strength and divine power to grow me into a mature believer and do that which I cannot do on my own.

Prayer
Lord, I want to see things from Your perspective. Thank you for opening my eyes so that I recognize You, and please continue to reveal Yourself to me further. Please work in me and through me, bringing fruit to my desire to be effective and productive in my knowledge of You. Please help me to grow in faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love! I love you, Lord!
