Daily devotional: Reality of the End

"Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
Revelation 7:16-17 NIV

It is striking in Revelation 6-9 to compare at the end times on one hand the fear and yet continued hardness from those who have not submitted their lives to God, and on the other hand the beautiful peace, rest, and protection that is in store for those who do turn over their lives to God and His Son Jesus, even leading up to the end. The end is coming, and it is up to each of us as to what we do with that. Ignoring it is not an option; it should radically change the way we live now. And there is so much more than just submitting to God because of final judgement that is coming. He loves each one of us and wants to lead us into the best we could possibly have.

Trust and rest in my Lord God and my Savior, Jesus. Live with eternal perspective and let that shape my life and my friendships.

Lord, You are most holy and worthy of all praise. All mankind is heading down the path to the final day of judgement. Please direct my path and make it straight. Please open Yourself up to me and reveal Yourself to me as I seek You intently. Please lead me down an intentional road that will allow me to bring You glory and honor and praise in my own life and also so that many others will come to know and give over their lives to You as well. I love you!
