Jacob's analogy to God being his shepherd was especially meaningful since he and his ancestors were themselves shepherds. While I cannot fully appreciate the analogy of God being our shepherd, I realize it means that He cares fully for each of us, and that we are like sheep who need guidance, protection, and leadership. Our Shepherd looks after us and rescues us from our own shortcomings and poor decisions. He has our best interests at heart.
Thank God for being my shepherd! Follow Him and trust in Him, knowing that He has my best interests in mind.
Lord, thank you for being my Shepherd. Thank you for rescuing me from danger, from my own ignorance and shortcomings. Thank you for leading me to sustenance, for calling me to Yourself. Thank you for caring for me. I love you!
