Daily devotional: My highest priority

"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
Luke 10:41-42 NIV

I can see how easy it is to get wrapped up in the preparations and works of the Lord but miss Him entirely. Life is about Him, not about what we can do for Him. There surely is a place for preparations and works, but my priority needs to be first and foremost on the triune God.

Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and then all these things will be added unto me. Make my priority first and foremost on God and knowing Him. Then go forth and blossom in fruitfulness while rooted in Him and remaining desperately dependent on Him, but don't get the cart before the horse.

Heavenly Father, Lord of heaven and earth, You are awesome and mighty and worthy of all praise. You deserve from everyone the highest worship, which you often do not receive. I am desperately dependent on You as I realize my very life depends on You, as does all that I put my hands to with the strength that You provide. I don't want to miss You while putting my hands to so many things. Instead, help me to keep my focus first and foremost on You. And Lord, I trust You that as I am close to You with my priorities straight, that You will take care of all the preparations and works that need to be done, that You will bring to fruition what You want to accomplish. I love you.
