Daily devotional: Redemption

But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.
Genesis 8:1 NIV

In starting the book of Luke and Genesis this new year, I am struck by God's redemption of mankind in spite of our overwhelming corruption and falling short of His holiness.

Give thanks to God my Savior for His mercy, grace, and lovingkindness. Walk with Him and seek Him first in all my days on the earth.

Lord, You are holy and awesome, so I understand that You cannot put up with our sin. Yet I am amazed at how gracious, merciful, and patient You are with us. I know we cannot really love You unless we have the choice to not love You. I'm sorry that I've fallen so short of Your design and desire for me, and I am so thankful that You sent Jesus to die the death I deserve, and for bringing Him to new life so that death no longer holds power over me but that I can live a new life in You. Thank you for Galatians 2:20. Thank you for redemption. I love you.
