Daily devotional: Gravity of sharing the Good News

"I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me."
Acts 26:17b-18 NIV

Jesus told Paul what he was tasked with and why. Paul obediently preached that people should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds (v.20). As I read this, I was struck by the gravity of this message we share with others who have not put their faith in Jesus. People's eyes are closed, living in darkness under the power of Satan, without forgiveness and destined to be apart from the place God has prepared for those who are sanctified by faith in Jesus. Who would want their enemy to be cursed to that extent, let alone their friends and family?

Rejoice in my sanctification and the transformation being done in my life through faith in Jesus! And be serious about sharing this Good News with others. This isn't something small. It is life and death.

Lord, thank you for sanctifying me. Thank you for opening my eyes and turning me from darkness to light, from the power of Satan to the power of God. Thank you for forgiving me of all my sins! Please prepare people's hearts and then help me to be faithful when there are opportunities to share Your message of salvation to those who are open to receive it. I love you!
