Daily devotional: Asking God for confirmation

When the three hundred trumpets sounded, the Lord caused the men throughout the camp to turn on each other with their swords. The army fled to Beth Shittah toward Zererah as far as the border of Abel Meholah near Tabbath.
Judges 7:22 NIV

Gideon's is an amazing story, because God asked Gideon to trust Him in a way that would show that only God could have accomplished the result, and because God was patient with Gideon, providing adequate strength to his faith to move forward with God's command in spite of the situation being extremely ludicrous if God was not really behind it. God did not punish Gideon for asking in humility for confirmation; instead, God obliged with Gideon's requests for confirmation.

Be ready to do what God wants, and use discernment to make sure I am following His leading. Don't be afraid to ask when I need Him to confirm that I am really hearing from Him.

Heavenly Father, thank you for showing us that You are patient with us, and that You are willing to confirm our faith so that we can move forward with confidence in following You and Your ways. Please spurn my spirit when there is a fleece-like test that is appropriate for me to request of You, and help me not to just complain and make excuses as Moses did when You called him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.
