Daily devotional: A frustration and prayer

For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.
1 Corinthians 1:21 NIV (see also vv.18-31)

It is frustrating that what is clear to me, having been called by God to salvation in Jesus (v.24), is foolishness to those who do not believe in God's chosen way of salvation through faith in Jesus, especially when those people are wise by human standards. I know that God chose to save us not through worldly wisdom but through His ways so that no one may boast before Him (v.29). But I desperately desire people's eyes and ears to be opened toward God and His plan of salvation through Jesus, especially those I know and love.

Continue to pray for God to call people to Him, especially those who are on my heart. And be a faithful witness through my words and my deeds.

Lord, I know that Your foolishness is wiser than man's wisdom, and Your weakness is stronger than man's strength. So I am not happy that so many in the world see Your plan of salvation as foolishness, but I trust in You and in Your plan. I pray that You would bring a great awakening, that You would open the eyes of many toward You, especially those who I know and have prayed for. I pray that Your Holy Spirit would speak through me and that my actions would bear witness to You. Help me to sow to please the Spirit rather than to please my sinful nature, and help me not to become weary in doing good (Galatians 6:8-9). Thank you for the cross of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Thank you for making me a new creation, for transforming me into the man You want me to be (Galatians 6:14-15). I love you!
