I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.
Deuteronomy 32:3-4 NIV
Moses was a prophet whom the Lord knew face to face, like no other prophet since him. If anyone knew God's character and attributes, Moses did. And Moses proclaimed the Lord's greatness, His stability and protection, His perfection, His justice, His faithfulness, and His righteousness. I was just thinking about a friend's hang-up over how a just God could have commanded Israel to completely destroy their enemies, in some cases including women and children. I know the many other arguments how this could have been a just action on God's part, but it struck me this morning that Moses had first hand knowledge of God's character and was witness to God's command and the beginning of carrying out this command. No one was in a better place to call God out if this was not in keeping with God's justice, and Moses would not have been able to see the Lord as he proclaimed in these verses if indeed this command was unjust.
Put my complete trust in the Lord and all His perfect ways, both those I understand and those I don't yet understand. Proclaim His name and His greatness.
Lord, You are awesome! I too proclaim Your name and Your greatness. There is none like You. I put my trust in You. And I look forward to the day when I will be with You for eternity. Until then, please keep drawing all humankind to You. Please remove the stumbling blocks from those who have something they cannot get past to trust in You. I love you!
