Daily devotional: Producing a large crop

But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.
Matthew 13:23 (NIV)

I obviously want to be this person who hears God's Word, understands it, and then produces a large crop. My fear is that my focus is too inward and selfish so that my life is not as fruitful as my Lord and I want it to be, especially with regard to the challenges I sense from the Lord to serve the poor and the needy, and to share His good news of salvation.

Wrestle through my priorities. Ask for open doors and be diligent to prioritize such that my life produces a large crop of fruitfulness.

Lord, thank you for blessing me so richly with a knowledge and understanding of You, and for providing for my every need and well beyond all my needs. Please help me to increase in my effectiveness for Your kingdom. Help me to take the steps that will result in being increasingly fruitful in-line with what You want me to do. I need Your strength and Your wisdom to do this.
