Daily devotional: Reconciliation

...that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:19-20 NIV

People don't know they need to be reconciled to God or the abundant life that is waiting for those who become a new creation in Jesus Christ (v.17), those who as a result of being in Christ become the righteousness of God (v.21).

I felt like God was tugging on me to not regard anyone from a worldly point of view (v.16) but that Christ's love should compel me (v.14) to carry this message of reconciliation as Christ's ambassador.

Lord, first of all, thank you for making me a new creation, for reconciling me to You through Christ (vv.17-18). Thank you that Jesus, who had no sin, became sin for me, so that in Him I might become the righteousness of God (v.21). Now that You have called me to be Your ambassador to carry this awesome message of reconciliation (v.20), help me to be faithful and diligent. Give me keen discernment and wisdom so that no one misses the Gospel because of lack of communication in love from me. Let me communicate in such a way that it is not like the preacher standing on a street corner speaking fire and brimstone and repulsing people who hear him, but rather in a way that people can see the difference You make in my life and who can listen in trust to what You want them to know, that You call them to repent, turn to You, and be reconciled to their Maker who loves them and wants to be in relationship with them. Thank you for having incredible blessings in store for Your children, and thank you for adopting me among them.
