Daily devotional: Not my will but Yours be done

Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."
Matthew 26:39 NIV

Jesus gives me a beautiful picture of perfect submission to God the Father. He is not afraid to ask for relief and change of plans, but He is willing to carry out the Father's will to completion.

Be honest with God. Pray fervently but be ready to follow the path He lays out before me, no matter what He has in store.

Lord, I trust in You. My hope is securely on You alone. Thank you for Jesus' example. Please help me to submit that completely to You. I wait in eager anticipation what You have in store for me, and whether You take me down a path that I would choose or not, I trust that You have a plan for using me to bring glory to Your name. That and being close to You is what I want. I love you.
