Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.
Psalm 20:7-8 NIV
Many people don't trust in the Lord, but instead trust in their own abilities and resources. But regardless of what other people do, the Lord does not want us to put our trust and hope in our own abilities or in resources we can muster up. When we rely on anyone or anything else other than the Lord, we will ultimately be brought to our knees and fall. However, when we fall to our knees on our own and put our trust in the Lord God, He will carry us and we will rise up and stand firm. As verse 4 says, "May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed."
Stand firm in my faith in the Lord; trust Him.
Lord, You are awesome and worthy of all my praise. You deserve my respect and my full devotion. I give that to You and come before You with respectful fear and yet also with joy and gladness. It is an awesome thing to put my trust in You and not elsewhere. Your ways are awesome, and the things You have in store for Your people are abundantly good. Thank you for all the good things You have in store for me, and even for the difficult things that You use to grow me and discipline me. Please guide my desires and author my plans, and then give me the desire of my heart and make all my plans succeed.
