I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Being content is a beautiful thing. I have not known need or hunger like Paul did, but yet the secret to contentment is to be rightly related to Christ Jesus. He gives us strength and is the source of our contentment, regardless of the circumstance. Our joy is not found in having plenty and being well fed.
Whether times are good or bad, whether I continue to live in plenty or things turn and I must live in want or even go hungry, put my trust and full faith in Jesus Christ, who gives me contentment and strength.
Lord, You are so good. Thank you for revealing Yourself to us through Your Word, and for teaching us how to live an abundant life with You. Thank you for blessing me far beyond what I could ask for, for providing richly for me, but also for showing me that my present circumstance is not the source of contentment. I have seen how wealth and things can actually lead to discontentment also, but I am grateful that I and my family have always had enough provision that we do not know want or hunger. Please work in me and through me. Make me more and more like You, changing my attitudes and thoughts and desires to be like Yours. I love you!
