Daily devotional: Pray for everyone, including those in authority

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
1 Timothy 2:1-2 NIV

God wants all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth (v.4), so He is pleased when we pray for government leaders and everyone else. Then we can live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness, and more people will receive salvation through Jesus Christ.

Pray for everyone to be saved and to know the truth, people around me, government leaders everywhere, and all those in authority.

Lord, I lift up my hands and praise You. You are holy and worthy of all praise, glory, and honor. I know that You are returning to take back those of us who put our full trust in You and to judge the world for our actions. I don't want anyone to miss knowing You and miss being made right with you through Jesus Christ, the one Mediator between You and humankind. Thank you, Jesus, for giving Yourself as a ransom for all of humankind. Please open the eyes of all my government leaders, government leaders around the world, as well as those in authority over me at work, and everyone I come into contact with. Please stir their hearts and open their eyes to the reality that You are above all, and rule over all, and that You want us to know You and be made right with You through the finished work of Jesus' death on the cross and His resurrection. I pray for a great awakening that will be unmatched in all of history. Let us not continue as a world to move away from You and live for our sinful natures, but rather draw us to You and let us not avoid the truth or be deceived. Thank you for Your grace, mercy, and love for each of us.
