And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood. Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore. For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.
Hebrews 13:12-14 NIV
Jesus suffered and paid the ultimate price to make me holy through his own blood.
Since I belong to Jesus, don't make choices that reflect a desire to be comfortable or popular here on earth. Instead, boldly follow and live the life Jesus has for me—even when that involves disgrace, persecution, and suffering. For what is in store for me with Him in heaven is far superior to what I know here on earth.
Jesus, I belong to You. It is so easy to get comfortable in life, especially with the luxury I am in compared to all of mankind throughout history, and the position of favor I enjoy in so many facets of my life. Thank you for all the blessings You have showered on me. But please help me to break out of that mold of living as the world does. Let me instead draw near to You, with Your priorities, Your passions, and Your values. I don't want to be ineffective for Your kingdom, to neglect opportunities to share Your message of grace and repentance, and to minister to others. Make me holy as You are holy. Draw me near to You. Let me see Your face and know You intimately. I love you!
